Mercedes SL55 AMG
The first Mercedes-Benz SL 55 AMG appeared in 1999 as a modified sport model of the series R 129 Mercedes-Benz SL 500. The V8 engine had a performance output of 225 kW (306 hp) in the original model, but tuners jacked up the performance output so that the engine in the Mercedes-Benz SL 55 AMG had a performance output of 260 kW (354 hp). Its displacement was also increased to 5.5 liters and maximum torque increased from 460 newton meters (Nm) to 530 Nm. The drive was combined with a five-speed automatic transmission, which, however, was set more sporty for the Mercedes-Benz SL 55 AMG. The convertible with cloth roof and hardtop distinguished itself from the series version in terms of appearance thanks to a special AMG design package with spoilers, rims, sport seats, a sport steering wheel and painted chrome parts.
The original Dutch-delivered SL55 which we are pleased to offer you on behalf of its owner is one of the second generation. Like the previous generation, the Mercedes-Benz SL 55 AMG presented in 2001 was again based on one of the top models in the series, namely the Mercedes-Benz SL 500. While it was still equipped with a 5.0 Liter engine with 225 kW (306 hp), the Mercedes-Benz SL 55 AMG developed further technically. In the second generation, it appeared with a new V8 compressor engine. This gave the Mercedes-Benz SL 55 AMG, which was henceforth produced as a convertible with steel roof, a performance output of 350 kW (476 hp). Thanks to the compressor technology used, maximum torque rose from 530 Nm to 700 Nm. This allowed the Mercedes-Benz SL 55 AMG to accelerate from zero to one hundred in 4.7 seconds. That was almost a second faster than the series model. The Mercedes-Benz SL 55 AMG did have the same maximum speed as the series model, which was 250 km/h with electronic speed control.
Presented in a cool color scheme and in exceptionally nice condition, this is a car not to be overlooked. With summer just around the corner, here is an opportunity to own a beautiful roadster at an attractive price. The owner has spared no expense to bring the car in top condition and this should certainly be experienced during a visit to our showroom. Of course it comes with the complete package of maintenance and instruction booklets.
