Mercedes 280SE saloon
From 1965 through 1972, Mercedes produced the so-called W108 series S-Class. This 108 series was made only in four-door versions, the coupe’s and cabriolets were given a different series designation, the W111 and W112. The then flagship of “das haus” was equipped with six- and eight-cylinder engines. They were rock solid and very exclusive cars that further underlined Mercedes’ reputation as a builder of high quality products.
The quality can still be seen today now that the W108s have become true classics and are appreciated and sought after by a large group of enthusiasts. We too were captivated by the look when we received this example and gave it a thorough make-over.
Our 280SE was delivered new in Switzerland and imported into the Netherlands in 2007 where it became part of a large collection. The car had not been driven much and when it arrived, our people immediately set to work to get it back into optimum technical condition. After this extensive service he was also completely detailed inside and out and the result is impressive. This car is equipped with the 2.8 ltr six cylinder engine and the automatic gearbox.
The mileage of less than 54000 km can safely be called uniquely low and that is reflected throughout the car! An impeccable interior with even the steering wheel still in new condition, an engine compartment where except for the maintenance work has never been tampered with, a trunk in which the first spare wheel, the jack, and the wheel wrench to which the original tool set is still attached in the new plastic packaging. This Mercedes is a real time capsule!!! The mileage is demonstrable through the original service booklet and the “abgas” readings which are completely present and stamped.
For a true enthusiast or collector this is a car that should definitely be seen, it is in our showroom ready for a viewing and/or test drive.
