Fisker karma
The Karma is a stunning car both inside and out. It could not be otherwise, since in the past Henrik Fisker designed masterpieces such as the BMW Z8, Aston Martin DB9 and V8 Vantage. Here is a serious-looking sports sedan, which doesn’t even fades next to a Maserati Quattroporte. This is partly due to its low height combined with its long wheelbase. It seriously looks good, which certainly also applies to the huge wheels. They are a whopping 22 inches in size.
The Karma interior offers a warmth and luxury its German competitors can only dream of. The gauges look wonderfully futuristic, as does the central screen for the trip computer, climate control, radio and navigation. The Fisker Command Center works excellently and you wander intuitively through the various menus. The materials used look exclusive and high-quality. The standard driving mode has been called βStealth. In this setting you can get 80 kilometers far at speeds of up to 153 km/h purely on the electric drive. Acceleration to 100 km/h then takes 7.9 seconds.
You could call the Karma a plug-in electric car, but it offers greater range and thus more options thanks to the additional internal combustion engine. It is an electric car, in the sense that the combustion engine never drives the wheels directly. The 260-hp twin-liter turbo engine drives a 175-kW generator, which in turn powers the lithium-ion battery pack. Finally, this 275-kilogram battery pack powers the two 204-hp electric motors placed in front and behind the rear differential. Although the top speed in the driven βSportβ mode is relatively modest at 201 km/h, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds is nothing to complain about. At best, you can get 41.7 kilometers far on one liter of gasoline, because you can recharge the batteries two or three times before consuming one liter.
The completely newly developed chassis offers impressive torsional rigidity, and the steering definitely works extremely well. With its all-aluminum chassis, huge wheelbase and giant wheels, you wouldn’t expect the Karma to ride lightly, but it really does. All around, the Fisker features a forged aluminum suspension with double wishbones and leveling on the rear axle. This set-up lifts the roadholding to a pleasant level, but the good weight distribution also contributes quite a bit. The balance is just fine. Thanks in part to the brembo brakes, deceleration is also more than sufficient.
Our Fisker was delivered new in 2012 by Kroymans automotive in Hilversum and has driven 156700 km since then. Service papers are present and the car has had recent maintenance. It looks great with the normal wear and tear you would expect with this mileage. Are you the next enthusiast who will fit this archetypal hybrid? It is waiting for you in our showroom.
